The Foundation recognizes a need to educate the public, and
to promote awareness of the plight of psittacines in the wild state - Attention will be
addressed to destruction of habitat and the capture of parrots (and resultant carnage) for
the pet trade, as well as the following: To inform the community of circumstances of psittacines in captivity, such as the consequence to a living creature capable of living 70 years or more, in our throwaway society. This would take into account what abandonment means for the animal. It would also encompass accepted options such as their release into the countryside resulting in destruction of our native environment or a lifetime of solitary confinement. Positive alternatives would be explored. |
